In this instalment of our Q&A series, we're chatting with Podiatrist Nur Ali, who joined our practice in 2022. We are delighted to have expanded our services to include podiatry, and Nur is an excellent and highly experienced Podiatrist who brings so much to the team.
Tell us a bit about yourself! My name is Nur and I have been a Podiatrist for 11 years. I have worked in 3 different countries as a Podiatrist and have gained pivotal experience in wound care, sports injuries, gait analysis and biomechanics as well as general podiatry such as nail care, nail surgery, verrucae resolution, callus and corn removal. How long have you worked at Guy Golds & Associates? I started working at Guy Gold’s in October 2022. What made you decide to practice podiatry? I have always been interested in health and biology and had a passion for care. I came across Podiatry through a friend who was studying the degree; it seemed to tick all the boxes for a career that I was looking for. I loved the idea of being able to practice as a sole practitioner in a clinic but also collaboratively in large hospitals. Most importantly, I wanted a career within a community that allowed me to help people.
What do you like best about working in Camden? Camden is a melting pot for so many different types of people, great music and fantastic food. What is something you'd like people to know about podiatry that might not be commonly understood? I would probably say that Podiatrists are the medical experts of the foot and ankle as we spend years studying the foot and ankle. There are so many health disciplines that have some minor involvement in the foot and ankle and patients can at times get confused about who to see. I have seen so many patients who have sadly struggled, sometimes for years, to find solutions to their pain. At times, their conditions worsened due to the lack of correct diagnosis or treatment. If in doubt, please log on to the HCPC website where you can search for a registered and licensed Podiatrist in your area. If you could give everyone one piece of podiatry-related advice, what would it be? It would be simple :wear supportive and accommodative shoes.
What is your favourite thing about working at Guy Golds & Associates? My favourite thing about working at Guy Gold’s is the people. Everyone has truly been so welcoming and supportive of me as a newbie and the first Podiatrist here. I have enjoyed medical discussions with the other healthcare professionals as they are all experts in their fields. It’s refreshing to be able to refer patients internally and to have discussions as this ensures holistic, patient centred care.
